Guidelines for hosting a function at the temple

The following guidelines will help you to host a function at the temple smoothly:

  1. One of the board members is assigned to assist the host family. Direct all your questions and arrange the cooking help if needed and time with him/her to open the temple.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the temple kitchen (locations of pots and pans), dinning hall, prayer hall etc prior to the function.
  3. Also familiarize yourself with the operations of kitchen appliances – dishwasher, stove, atta kneading machine, food processor and exhaust fan etc.
  4. No garlic or onion is allowed in preparations of the preeti bhojan (food) as this is offered as Prasadam.
  5. Please compost all the peels. Also please recycle any paper and plastics. Kindly please do not put everything that can be recycled in the garbage.
  6.  Invite your friends and families to help and support you in buying supplies & groceries, cooking, serving and cleaning.
  7. Clean the washrooms, dining hall and set tables & chairs before the evening function begins. Stock the paper towel, bathroom tissue, soap etc.
  8. For the Pooja – Please bring flowers, fruits and Panchamrita. Arrive 15 minutes prior to pooja, 6:15 pm if it’s Saturday evening function and 10:15 am if it is Sunday morning function. It’s very important to arrive on time for pooja as we want to start the aarati  by 8:15pm and 12:15 pm respectively.
  9. Serve food (preetibhojan) after the aarti, clean utensils including plates, big pots etc. and place them where they belong nicely in the shelves.
  10. After the function – Clean washrooms, dinning hall, kitchen and other areas. Empty all the garbage cans in the kitchen and wash rooms, stack them outside and replace the cans with new garbage bags. Fold away tables & chairs and stack in a corner. Turn off gas, lights and lock the temple.
  • Suggested donation is $150 to cover off utilities, supplies, maintenance and deep cleaning crew wages. Tax deductible receipt will be provided for your donation and on top of that $300 tax deductible receipt will also be provided to cover your grocery expenses.
  • NOTE: Temple volunteers can help you buy and cook food on your behalf. The cost for the entire function is $500 including food and donations. You are still required to help in cooking, serving and cleaning. Your contribution and dedication towards our community is highly appreciated. Thank you very much for hosting the function. Hosting a Private Function at the Temple

The following guidelines will help you to host a private function at the temple:

  • Cost – $30/hour + addition $50 if using the kitchen.
  • One of the board members is assigned to assist the host family. Direct all your questions and help if needed and time with him/her to open the temple.
  •  If you are using the kitchen facilities for your private party please familiarize yourself with the temple kitchen (locations of pots and pans), dining hall, prayer hall etc. prior to the function. Also familiarize yourself with the operations of kitchen appliances – dishwasher, stove, atta/dough kneading machine, food processor and exhaust fan etc. No garlic or onion is allowed in preparations of the food.
  • If you catering food from outside please make sure all dishes are vegetarian. Also no alcohol products are allowed in a private party at the mandir.
  • If you are using the plates from the kitchen please wash them in the dishwasher, dry them put them away. If you are using disposable plates please put it garbage and tie the garbage and put it in the garbage bin outside.
  • Please compost all the organic garbage. Also please recycle any paper and plastics. Kindly please do not put everything that can be recycled in the garbage.
  • After the function – Clean washrooms, dining hall, kitchen and other areas. Empty all the garbage cans in the kitchen and wash rooms, stack them outside and replace the cans with new garbage bags. Fold away tables & chairs and stack in a corner.
  • Remove any decorations that you have put up. Turn off gas, lights and lock the temple.
